Bigstrup Farm – Education Centre and Wedding Venue, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Heritage Revival is working on the conversion of a group of disused Grade II listed barns at Bigstrup Farm. The scheme would operate dually as an Education Centre for school visits, and at weekends and holidays as a wedding venue. The proposals seek to minimise alterations to the existing listed barns, and to replace the currently unsightly 1970’s silage barn with a modern ‘barn’ in which receptions could be held. Materials selected for the replacement barn include vertical black timber boarding and a burnt orange corten steel to complement the existing black timber barn cladding and the orange clay roof tiles of the farmstead. The new ‘Meadow’ barn nestles into the landscape with careful contouring into the site, and the adjacent field is to be sown as a wild meadow to improve biodiversity at the farm.
Works to the existing barns include the repair and upgrade of the existing construction with traditional materials, and where required, new materials of breathable and sustainable specification.
The scheme is currently at Planning Stage.
